I agree with almost all the positive points the author expressed in the website on reasons why students should blog. Looking at the other side of blogging, teacher should consider the age and maturity of the students. The article mentioned that blogging increases proofreading and validation skills. True, but some students from my own experience barely even now how to independently edit their draft, much less know what a deletion mark or what a caret is for. Indeed blogging is a powerful learning tool but there are some issues that we as teachers should consider.
You are certainly correct that the classroom teacher knows her students best and can decide which aspects of the internet would be useful to them and which ones would need a lot of careful instuction before being useful.
